Blue Flag

The International Blue Flag Award Program for beaches and marinas was initiated in Turkey in 1993 with the establishment of the Turkish Foundation for Environmental Education. Recognizing the undeniable importance of yachts in maintaining marine cleanliness, the International Blue Flag Coordination introduced the Blue Flag program for individual yachts in 2004, and it was launched in Turkey in 2007.

Our 45.2 ft sailing yacht, Valmira, met all 17 criteria of the Blue Flag Award during our "Sustainability Journey from the Sea of Marmara to the Mediterranean" project. In 2023, it became one of the 10 Blue Flagged yachts in Turkey in the individual yacht category. It is also the first and only yacht owned by an NGO.

In 2024, Valmira applied again for the Blue Flag and has been awarded the Blue Flag Award for the second time.
