Ranger System
As the Marine Life Conservation Society, we have launched our Ranger System to ensure the protection and monitoring of the Marmara Sea.
As long as weather conditions permit, our team conducts regular dives throughout the week in the Prince Islands region. Our Ranger team actively carries out:
-
Monitoring of coral gardens within the protected area,
-
Ghost net removal,
-
Underwater cleanup operations,
-
Biodiversity research.
Working in coordination with the Coast Guard Command, our team identifies industrial fishing vessels such as purse seiners and trawlers, small-scale fishers including spearfishing activities, and individual boat users navigating around the islands during protection-area patrols. They inform them about the rules of the protected area and the ongoing conservation efforts.
Our Ranger team is also on call 24/7, prepared to respond to potential marine conflicts, natural disaster–related emergencies, or incidents requiring first response within the islands region.
Composed entirely of professional divers, our team will continue to be present in the field under all conditions to protect the Marmara Last Refuge.
