Ranger System
As the Marine Life Conservation Society, we have launched our Ranger System to protect and monitor the Marmara Sea.
Weather permitting, our boat conducts regular dives around the Princes’ Islands throughout the week.
Our Ranger Team actively carries out the following field operations:
-
Monitoring coral gardens within the protected area,
-
Removing ghost nets,
-
Conducting underwater clean-up activities,
-
Performing biodiversity research.
Working in coordination with the Turkish Coast Guard Command, our team also patrols the protected zone, identifying industrial fishing vessels such as purse seiners and trawlers, as well as small-scale fishers—including spearfishers—and individual boat users around the islands. They inform them about the rules of the protected area and the ongoing conservation efforts.
In addition, our Rangers remain on standby 24/7 to respond to conflicts at sea, emergencies caused by natural disasters, or incidents requiring immediate intervention in the islands region.
Comprising entirely of professional divers, our team will continue to be on the field under all conditions to protect the last sanctuary of the Marmara Sea.
